📌 Scheme Name: Circle Welfare Fund for GDS (CWFGDS)
📌 Controlled by: Chief Postmaster General (CPMG)
📌 Applicable to: All regularly engaged GDS
❌ Not applicable to: Substitute / Provisional GDS
📅 Effective from: 11 February 2026
🔁 Supersedes: OM dated 11.09.2024

🔹 2. Subscription Details

💰 Contribution: ₹40 per month
📆 ₹480 per year (Recovered in April as lump sum)
✔ Mandatory membership
⚠️ Non-recovery for 6 continuous months → Membership terminated

🔹 3. Central Welfare Fund Support

🏛 ₹200 per GDS per year
➡️ Released annually to each Circle

🔹 4. Major Benefits Under CWFGDS

✅ A. Financial Assistance

⚰️ Death Benefits

  • Normal Death – ₹11,000
  • Death on Duty (Accident) – ₹27,500
  • Terrorist Activity (on duty) – ₹1,65,000
  • Funeral Expenses – ₹5,500

🏥 Medical Assistance

  • Major Surgery (Cancer/Heart/Kidney etc.) – Up to ₹30,000
  • Accident Hospitalisation (>3 days) – ₹5,500
  • TB Nutritional Diet
    • Indoor – ₹440/month
    • Outdoor – ₹220/month (Max 6 months)

🎓 Education Assistance

  • IIT / AIIMS / IIM – ₹1,100/month
  • Technical Degree – ₹308/month
  • Diploma – ₹209/month
  • BA / BSc / BCom – ₹165/month
  • ITI – ₹1,034/year
  • Academic Excellence Award – ₹550 – ₹1,100

🌪 Natural Calamities

  • Financial help up to ₹7,500

🦠 COVID Assistance

  • ₹50,000

✅ B. Loan Facility (Low Interest)

💸 Maximum Loan: ₹1,00,000
🔁 Allowed: Twice in entire service
📉 Interest Rate: 3% – 5% per annum

  • BPO Room Construction – ₹50,000
  • Electric Vehicle – ₹50,000
  • Computer / Laptop – ₹20,000
  • Two-Wheeler – ₹20,000
  • Mobile / Tablet – ₹15,000
