India Post Issues Advisory on Relief for Muslim Employees During Ramzan
The Department of Posts, Government of India, has issued an official communication regarding the grant of relief to Muslim employees during the holy month of Ramzan.
The advisory has been issued from the Office of the Chief Postmaster General (CPMG), Telangana Circle, Hyderabad, and is dated 17 February 2026.
Background of the Decision
The communication follows representations received from various employee unions, including AIRMEU (R-III & R-IV) and BPEA Group ‘C’, requesting suitable relief measures for Muslim employees observing Ramzan.
Key Direction
In the official letter, Heads of Offices have been instructed to refer to Rule 153 of the Post Office Manual, Volume III, and to take appropriate action strictly in accordance with the existing rules. The responsibility for granting relief rests with the concerned administrative authorities, based on the provisions laid down in the manual.

- The Postmaster General, Hyderabad Region
- The Postmaster General, Headquarters Region
- The Director of Accounts (Postal), Hyderabad
Copies have also been endorsed to recognized postal employee unions in Telangana Circle for information.
